Joint Stock Company «Navigation-Information Systems» (NIS GLONASS) is a Russian public–private partnership, designated by Russian Federation Government Resolution No. 549, dated 11 July 2009, as the National Navigation Services Provider.
NIS GLONAS Board of Directors includes representatives from public and private organizations with interest in the development of GLONASS technologies.
The company has a wide distributor network in the Russian Federation and the CIS, possessing a complete set of licensing documents of rendering telematics services in regions. The company is pursueing the active policy directed to expansion of international cooperation.In 2011 the company is in a process of setting up the Office in Mumbai (India).The corporate collaboration of NIS-GLONASS with the LANDSMITHS is a milestone deed for the creation of favorable conditions for mainstream adoption of GLONASS technologies in Indian markets and Initiation and support of GLONASS-based products and services in India.
NIS GLONASS Objectives:
- Formation of integrated technology policy for navigation services
- Creation of favorable conditions for mainstream adoption of GLONASS technologies in domestic and global markets
- Initiation and support of GLONASS-based products and services development in Russia and abroad
- Contribution to the development of government policy on GLONASS commercialization
- Ensuring integration of process management for implementation of GLONASS in Russia (refinement of legal framework, uniform technical standards, etc.)
- Introduction and further development of the ERA-GLONASS system
- Creation of mass markets for competitive equipment and services, based on GLONASS technologies
- Development of GLONASS-based navigation information systems for government and large industrial sector use
- Export of GLONASS technologies to world markets: CIS countries, Latin America, India, Middle East
